The CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification is obtained through a rigorous program of ongoing study and testing in the following areas: insurance, risk management, investments, taxes, retirement planning, employee benefits, and estate planning. Continuing education requirements of a CFP® professional are thirty hours every two years. Financial planning is an ongoing process that requires monitoring and periodic adjustments after the initial plan is devised. The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. oversees the certification and continuing education of CFP® certificants.
